An Interview with Urban Oasis' owner, Lynda Willingham

Why the name Urban Oasis?
My husband, Gregory, came up with the name "Urban Oasis" many years ago. The ideaolgy behind the name Urban Oasis is to take a building in the urban community, that seems to be an eyesore add a little TLC to make it an oasis suitable for our living needs and it would serve as a place where we can be of service to the community, through gardening without pesticides, feeding and clothing those that are less fortunate. It would also house the facilities where the natural bath and body products are manufactured.

So Urban Oasis Bath and Body Products is just a small part of a bigger picture.

How did you get started in making shea butter?
I started making my specially formulated shea butter, after reading the ingredient labels of the products I was using on my body. I chose to use something that would be beneficial to my skin, I started using shea butter but wanted the application process to take much less time than it took with the chunky pieces of shea butter. So I came up with a recipe to make the butter creamier, and easier to apply.

What makes your shea butter different from all the other shea butter businesses that are popping up?
Urban Oasis Whipped Shea Butter is made with all natural ingredients, Shea butter being the main ingredient, often times shea butter is at the end of the ingredient list meaning there is only a small amount of shea butter in the product. A special blend of oils and butters, vitamin E, mixed, whipped and stirred just right makes Urban Oasis WSB creamy for you. Urban Oasis whipped shea butter is scented with body oils.

Where do you plan to take your product in the future?
Urban Oasis Bath and Body Product future plans include incorporating essential oils into the products for your aromatherapy needs and herbal extracts for your theraputic needs (not intended to diagnose or treat medical issues).
